Kalaripayattu

Kalari Payattu was first introduced to Peringode in 1940. This Kalari is situated in the Sri Rama Temple of Poomully Mana had its first Gurukkal Sri R. V. Ananthan Nair , who was the disciple of the legendry Kottackal Kanaran Gurukkal and compatriot of Veera Sri C. V. Narayanan Nair.

Sri Poomully Neelakandan Nampoothirippadu took his first lessons from Sri Ananthan Nair in 1942 Sri C.V Appu Nambiar Gurukkal and Sri C. V. Narayanan Nair took up the task of teaching Kalari at Peringode.

The Poomully's Guru-Shishya relationship to Sri Appu Nambiar was a life long affair. Later in 1957 – 58 this Kalari had a new Guru Sri Maniyan Nair who was the son of the lustrous Mattannoor Madhusoodhana Tangal and disciple of Sri C. V. Narayanan Nair.

This Kalari is still very alive with starters and senior students who acquire mastering over the famous Ottakkol Payattu and Kalari Marma Chikilsa.
